Auch im Schuljahr 2019/20 sorgen Native Speaker wieder für einen lebendigen Fremdsprachenunterricht an der Praxis-HAK Völkermarkt. Neu an der Schule ist der US-Amerikaner Ben Ellis, der bereits als Schüler österreichische Luft geschnuppert hat. Er stellt sich der Schulgemeinschaft vor:
Hello all!
My name is Ben Hoffman Ellis & I am pleased to introduce myself as the new native speaker/English teaching assistant at the HAK Völkermarkt. I am from Newton, Iowa, a small town roughly the same size as Völkermarkt located in the Midwest region of the United States.
I first came to Austria as a high school exchange student to the BG/BRG Freistadt where I learned how to speak German, to waltz, and even played trombone in the Gutauer Musikkapelle. After high school I attended the University of Iowa where I completed my Bachelor’s in German & International Relations this past May with a study abroad year in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany.
Before pursuing a Master’s at The Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, I chose to return to my beloved Austria to teach this year. Austria has impacted my life profoundly and I am eager to give back to the community here in Carinthia!
